How to Activate Your New Card
Overview
When you receive a new debit or credit card, it must be activated before you can use it for purchases, ATM withdrawals, or online transactions. Activation is a quick security step that confirms you have received the card and links it to your account. This guide covers the available activation methods, how to set your PIN, and key card features you should know about.
Activation Channels
You can activate your new card through any of the following methods:
- Mobile Banking App -Open the app, navigate to Cards, select your new card, and tap "Activate". You will be asked to enter the last 4 digits of the card number for verification.
- Online Banking Portal -Log in, go to the Card Management section, and follow the activation prompts. Have your new card ready.
- Phone Banking -Call our automated activation line or speak with a representative during Mon-Fri 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM AEST. You will need your card number and registered account details.
- ATM Activation -Insert your new card at any of our ATMs, enter the temporary PIN provided in your welcome letter, and follow the on-screen instructions.
Your previous card will be automatically deactivated once the new card is successfully activated.
Setting Your PIN
During activation, you will be prompted to set a 4-digit PIN of your choice. Please keep these guidelines in mind:
- Choose a PIN that is easy for you to remember but difficult for others to guess.
- Avoid using your date of birth, sequential numbers such as 1234, or repeated digits such as 0000.
- Never write your PIN on the card or store it alongside the card.
- You can change your PIN at any time via the mobile app, online banking, or at an ATM.
Card Features
Your new card comes equipped with the following features:
- Contactless payments -Tap to pay at any terminal displaying the contactless symbol for transactions under the contactless limit.
- Digital wallet support -Add your card to Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Samsung Pay for mobile payments.
- Online transactions -Use your card number, expiry date, and CVV for secure online purchases. 3D Secure verification is enabled for added protection.
- International use -Your card is accepted worldwide wherever the card network logo is displayed. Notify us of travel plans to avoid disruptions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long after activation can I use my card?
Your card is available for use immediately after successful activation. You can make purchases, withdraw cash from ATMs, and use contactless payments straight away.
Q: What if I did not receive a temporary PIN?
If you are activating via ATM and did not receive a temporary PIN letter, please use the mobile app or online banking to activate instead, or contact our team during Mon-Fri 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM AEST for assistance.
Q: Can I activate my card from overseas?
Yes. You can activate your card through the mobile app or online banking from anywhere with an internet connection.
